UK Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson MP announced the creation of the Modernising Defence Programme (MDP) inquiry to Parliament in January 2018. The MDP separated out from the National Security Capability Review (NSCR)1 and its scope covers 4 key strands of defence capability. Three of the strands are reviewing “organisation, efficiency management and business and commercial practices in the Ministry of Defence (MoD).”2 The forth strand is reviewing the structure of UK military forces. NASA’s SBIR Program Encourages Small Business Innovation

NASA, the US Space Agency has selected 108 research and tech proposals from American small businesses, representing a spend of approximately $87 million across 99 companies in 26 states. NASA has entered contract negotiations through its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program for Phase II development. SBIR aims to deliver innovation into NASA’s space exploration programme through engagement with American small businesses. Tech City Croydon: London’s Fastest Growing Tech Cluster

LONDON is a major innovation centre and for a number of years Tech City (aka Silicon Roundabout) has been the dominant London Tech Cluster. European Innovation: Barcelona is Smart City Frontrunner

BARCELONA is tipped to win the European Capital of Innovation Award. The €500k  iCapital prize is awarded by the European Commission. The prize rewards innovation within Europe and provides funding for high potential projects.
